"There Are Miles Ahead And The Radio’s Broken" (2020 - ongoing) is a body of work born in my hometown of Sicklerville, New Jersey during the summer of 2020. Having spent much of my adult life avoiding coming back for extended periods of time, the stresses of a global pandemic led me to stay in the family home I grew up in for three consecutive months. Being home for this long for the first time in years was more of an exercise in seeing than I had anticipated. I was reminded that when you’re around to look long enough, your eyes adjust. You see more of the details as they are, notice the subtleties of an aging monument. It was at this point I began to create work documenting places and people of note within this aging town that I was seeing with newer, more present eyes, instead of how I viewed them in my memory.
"There Are Miles Ahead And The Radio’s Broken" is a meditation on what has changed. It is an exercise in seeing. It is a reminder to let one’s eyes adjust.
