Some Collective, a women of colour-led production company that centers global majority stories, is offering affordable, professional studio headshot portraits to raise money for its debut short film, Mama.
What can I use this session for?
You’re free to tailor this session to suit your personal or professional needs! Whether you’re looking for a polished LinkedIn headshot, actor headshots, or artist portraits showcasing your work, we’ll create images that authentically represent your online presence.
What am I getting?
We're providing three different packages to choose from for your portrait session. Each package will include your own selection from a mix of half and full body shots, and close-ups. All images will be colour corrected and lightly retouched as needed (as we do favour a more realistic and natural look!). Your set of photos will be delivered within one month of the day of your shoot via WeTransfer or Google Drive.
How much is a session?
Inclusive Package — Students / Recent Graduates / On Benefits: £55 for 4 colour images
Standard Package: £85 for 4 colour images (+ 2 of the images in black & white)
Plus Package: £130 for 6 images (all in colour and black & white)
What can I expect during the shoot?
A fun, relaxed time! Headshot sessions will be 30 minutes long per person and we will have you choose your favourites at the end of your session. This way, you know you’ll receive a set of photos you're happy with.
When will the sessions take place?
We are offering sessions during two separate days — Sunday, 2 February 2025 + Saturday, 8 February 2025

All sessions will take place in a studio space located at:

Who will be taking my photos?
Chelsea Pineda is a Filipina-American portrait and documentary photographer whose practice explores the intimacies of cultural identity, lineage, and memory. Chelsea's work has been selected and shown internationally at the Vermont Center of Photography's Open Juried Exhibition, the Scotiabank Contact Photography Festival in Toronto, and Photo Fringe Festival 2024 in Brighton. She’s been nominated for the Hahnemühle Student Award in 2022 and won the Danny Wilson Memorial Award: Professionals' Choice for Emerging Photography in 2024. Chelsea is the producer of Mama.
Josie Kyan is a director & photographer working always with the goal of building community. Whether it’s crewing up predominantly with women of colour or working with people seeking asylum to raise awareness of their lives, Josie uses the visual arts with one message: we are all worthy & we are all equal. Josie is currently working on building a production company, SOME Collective, to elevate this work. Josie is the director and writer of Mama.
What if I need to cancel?
If you need to cancel your portrait session, the following refund policy applies:
Cancellations made within 7 days of your session will incur a 10% deduction from your deposit.
Cancellations made within 48 hours of your session will incur a 50% deduction from your deposit.
The remaining balance will be refunded accordingly. Cancellations made before 7 days of your session incurs no cost.
What are we fundraising for?
We're raising funds to pay for the production and post-production of our short film, Mama. 100% of the money raised goes towards:
production costs incurred whilst making the film such as equipment hire, food for the crew, costumes, prop hire & set costs
submission fees for film festivals

About Mama
As Leila is losing her Nana on the other side of the world she struggles with painful distance; both from her Tunisian heritage and the cultural distance between her and her Mama at home. She desperately tries to reconnect with her roots and find a bridge between loss, love, and culture.

and 67% women of colour.
The vibes on set were immaculate with so many talented, kind and generous women creating together.
What is Some Collective?
Some Collective, founded in 2023 by filmmaker Josie Kyan, is a production company centering stories of the global majority, harnessing the arts and community building as a means of resistance. We work across multiple mediums, such as film, visual installations, sound, immersive theatre and photography exhibitions to explore our interconnectedness and deepen an international siblinghood.
Mama is Some Collective's debut narrative film.
